PARIS, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- French Justice Minister Rachida Dati says she will not identify the father of her unborn child, prompting speculation about the unknown man's identity.
Since Dati confirmed her pregnancy this week, rumors have been rampant throughout France as to the identity of the government official's partner, The Times of London reported Friday.
"My private life is complicated and I am keeping it off-limits to the media. I will not say anything about it," Dati said Wednesday.
The Times said among the postulated candidates for the unborn child's father are former Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar, whose office has denied such allegations.
"In relation to the rumors that have appeared in certain areas of the media linking Jose Maria Aznar with the pregnancy of Rachida Dati, we would like to state the following: the claims are totally and utterly false," his office said in a statement.
The British newspaper said other notable names tabbed as possible partners for Dati included French President Nicolas Sarkozy, along with millionaires Henri Proglio and Dominique Desseigne.
