Members of the Antillean community allege creating the Antillean Reference Index would be an instance of ethnic discrimination as it targets Antillean youths specifically, Radio Netherlands said Friday.

Antilles Prime Minister Emily de Jongh-Elhage and Aruban Prime Minister Nelson Oduber are among those opposing the anti-crime plan by Netherlands officials.

Oduber says the proposal, which was previously opposed in a The Hague Regional Court ruling, represents an out-of-control anti-crime movement.

"As members of the Kingdom of the Netherlands we should not be stigmatized," he said.

Radio Netherlands said since the court ruling was overturned by the Council of State on Sept. 3, opponents of the database have been preparing to take their arguments to the European Court of Human Rights.
