MIAMI, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Tropical Storm Josephine lost some strength over the central Atlantic Ocean Thursday, forecasters at the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said.
The 10th named storm of the Atlantic storm season was about 590 miles west of the southernmost Cape Verde Islands at 5 p.m. EDT, with sustained winds near 45 mph, the forecasters said. Josephine's winds extended 105 miles from the storm center.
The system was moving west-northwest near 10 mph and that motion was forecast to continue for two days, the report said.
"Upper-level winds are currently not favorable for significant strengthening and little change in strength is forecast during the next couple of days," the report said.
Josephine is trailing Hurricane Ike, a dangerous Category 4 storm that was about 505 miles northeast of the Leeward Islands at 5 p.m., as well as Tropical Storm Hanna, which was centered about 155 miles east-northeast of Nassau.
