JERUSALEM, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Israeli police said Thursday they are ready to submit evidence that allegedly implicates Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in a decade of corruption.
Olmert is being investigated in six cases of corruption, including allegedly accepting $150,000 in cash from American-Jewish businessman Morris Talansky for election campaigns during a 10-year period, The Jerusalem Post reported.
Olmert, who is expected to step down as prime minister this month, also is under investigation for allegedly collecting $110,000 by billing more than one non-profit group for expenses incurred during trips to raise money for them, the Post reported. Olmert allegedly charged each group for a full-flight air fare when he spoke on behalf of two or three of them on the same trip, the Post reported.
Chief of Investigations for Israeli Police Yohanan Danino was to meet Thursday and Sunday with investigating detectives to consolidate their evidence and present it to prosecutors, the Post reported.
