FOREST PARK, Ohio, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- A man who allegedly told police he was "tired of hearing about your Jesus" was charged Thursday with firing 36 rounds into an Ohio church.

Jerry Rains, 29, of Lincoln Heights remained silent during a court appearance, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported. He stared at TV cameras as the minister of the Word of Deliverance Church in Forest Park described the damage.

Rains allegedly drove to the church at around 1 a.m. Wednesday morning and opened fire with a 9 mm handgun. Bishop Bobby Hilton said the doors and windows were blown out by the fusillade.

Hilton said he did not know Rains and did not know why he might have been angry at the church. But he said a police officer told him Rains had said he was "tired of hearing about your Jesus."

Rains was charged with desecration and weapons offenses. Bail was set at $750,000.
