Inmate gets $300,000 for lost genitals
Perry heard from nearly two dozen former judges and prosecutors in regard to Charles Dean Hood's scheduled execution next Wednesday for an 1989 double killing.
Hood's claim that Verla Sue Holland, the judge in his death penalty trial, and former Collin County District Attorney Tom O'Connell were lovers. A state judge set a hearing date regarding the alleged affair but set it for next Friday, two days after Hood was to be executed.
But, first, a new judge must be found for the affair hearing after the scheduled judge recused himself because of a business relationship with Holland's husband.
