KOKOMO, Ind., Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Two teenage boys in Kokomo, Ind., allegedly vandalized more than 50 homes and vehicles during the holiday weekend, police say.
Kokomo police Lt. Don Whitehead said following the recent Labor Day weekend, police received at least 50 reports of vandalism ranging from slashed tires to vandalized swimming pools, Indianapolis' WRTV reported Tuesday.
Whitehead said the two 15-year-old boys were arrested Sunday in relation to the crimes and each faces a criminal charge of felony mischief.
Victims of the holiday vandalism say the boys' parents should be financially responsible for the teenagers' alleged actions.
"It's not fair to us. Even if we have insurance, it's a deductible. It's not fair to us people," vandalism victim Barb Edwards told WRTV. "(The parents of the teens) need to come up with some money to help out. Parents are responsible for their children."
Police told the TV station that the cost of the vandalism spree is estimated to be thousands of dollars.
