Amandeep Singh Dhami is one of two suspects named in the weekend slaying at a cricket and sports festival in Sacramento. Police said the incident apparently stemmed from a long-running feud, The Sacramento Bee reported Wednesday.

"We believe there are many people helping him," Sacramento County Sheriff's Sgt. Tim Curran told the Bee.

Dhami is described as a felon on probation who at one time was a friend of the victim, 26-year-old Parmit Singh Pamma. Witnesses told the Bee that Dhami managed to slip away in the chaos after the shooting and escape in a car driven by someone else.

Bystanders, some wielding cricket bats, chased down and captured the other alleged gunman, Gurpreet Singh Gosal, 24, Indianapolis, the Bee report said.
