Poland investigates Nazi insignia sales

WARSAW, Poland, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Polish prosecutors say they are investigating allegations a company is illegally selling Nazi-era memorabilia for resale in Germany.

Deutsche Welle reported Wednesday that the jewelry company is suspected of making swastikas, military insignia and skull rings like those worn by SS troops during World War II.

Prosecutors say that while such items are legal in Poland, it is against the law to purchase them in Germany and Scandinavia. The goods produced in Poland are meant only for collectors and film producers, however Deutsche Welle said they often end up in the hands of neo-Nazis.

It is suspected that the company under investigation has been selling to an unidentified individual in eastern Germany.
