The ex-generals -- Luciano Benjamin Menendez and Antonio Domingo Bussi, both in their 80s -- maintained their innocence, La Nacion reported.

Menendez and Bussi were convicted of the 1976 disappearance and death of Sen. Guillermo Vargas Aignasse.

Some 30,000 people were killed during the so-called "Dirty War" (1976-1983) led by Argentina's military dictators.
