Family members said the younger Kassebaum, who suffered from a brain tumor, died Wednesday, the Wichita (Kan.) Eagle reported.

A native of Wichita, Richard Kassebaum studied radio and television at Kansas State University, graduating in 1983. He went on to study film at the University of Southern California.

He won a Student Academy Award in 1990 for "Alf Landon: My Talk With Papa," about his grandfather, the former Kansas governor and 1936 Republican presidential candidate.

Richard Kassebaum was a producer with Front Porch Films and worked on a number of PBS documentaries.
