Kilpatrick has filed a lawsuit against Granholm in an apparent last-ditch effort to keep his job, alleging in the ligation that Granholm is biased against him and shouldn't be able to rule on removal matter, The Detroit News said Friday.
In a Wayne Circuit Court filing Thursday, lawyers for Kilpatrick alleged Granholm informed them and state prosecutors she intended to seek the mayor's resignation despite any facts offered during next Wednesday's meeting.
Mayoral spokesman Marcus Reese said those lawyers are seeking a restraining order in the matter to protect the mayor, who is facing allegations ranging from perjury to infidelity.
The Detroit Free Press said Kilpatrick's lawyers have also been working to keep the city official out of jail on those matters. Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy reportedly is seeking at least 30 days in jail as part of any felony plea by the mayor.
