BAGHDAD, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's personal luxury train will soon be back in service in his native land, a railways spokesman said.
Spokesman Karim Al Tamimi said the executed dictator's 23-carriage train has been moved to Baghdad's main train station in preparation for its new role as public carrier between Baghdad and Basra, al-Sumaria reported Thursday.
Security officials said the train, which was only used once by Hussein during his presidential reign, had previously been used to transport former regime officials throughout Iraq.
The train, which was made in France for Hussein, had been in storage since the United States invaded Iraq and overthrew the oppressive leader.
The vehicle was hidden in an unspecified location during the 2003 invasion in order to protect it from looters taking advantage of the military action, al-Sumaria said.
