CHULUOTA, Fla., Aug. 28 (UPI) -- A Florida man became another victim of Tropical Storm Fay when he died after being bitten by fire ants that had been washed into his home.
The man, described as being in his 60s, was bitten many times Tuesday morning at his home in Chuluota, the Orlando Sentinel reported. Emergency workers were unable to reach him immediately because of flooding.
He died at a hospital Tuesday night.
Fay has now been blamed for at least 12 deaths. The storm lingered over the state for days.
Much of the state continued to cope with flooding and animals struggled to reach high ground. In Seminole County, a man was bitten by a snake Wednesday morning.
