The girl's grandmother was approached as she was removing the child from a car seat at a McDonald's. One of two males then drove off with the child inside, but later abandoned the infant just over a mile away. Police spotted the tan 1994 Mercury four-door and while trying to flee police the car crashed. An unidentified 16-year-old driver taken into custody, The Dallas Morning News reported Thursday.

Almost at the same time a caller alerted police to the abandoned 2-year-old, who was reunited with her grandmother.

The other suspect escaped on foot from the McDonald's and is still being sought.
