COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Rebels flew a small airplane over a Sri Lankan naval base Tuesday night, dropping two bombs, defense sources said.

Only one of the two improvised explosive devices detonated, causing minor damage and wounding four naval personnel, defense officials told Lanka Page. Forces at Trincomalee naval base fired at the Tamil Tigers' aircraft but it appeared the plane escaped.

The rebels claimed on their Web page that 11 government sailors were admitted to a hospital with injuries following their rare aerial foray.
