LENOIR, N.C., Aug. 26 (UPI) -- A North Carolina woman was listed in critical condition Tuesday after spending nearly a week trapped in her wrecked pickup truck.

Amber Pennell, 21, was being treated for dehydration and hypothermia as well as the injuries she suffered when her vehicle crashed into a 70-foot ravine in Caldwell County.

Searchers found Pennell Monday evening after they spotted some torn up kudzu plants off a highway near Lenoir and then noticed the corner of the truck.

"When we hollered down at her, we saw her stick her head out, which was a blessing to all of us," Tommy Courtner, head of Caldwell County Emergency Services, told WSOC-TV, Charlotte.
