Cantor absent from RNC speaking list

WASHINGTON, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Eric Cantor, rumored to be on the shortlist of John McCain's U.S. vice presidential picks, is not on the Republican National Convention speaking list.

The Hill reported Tuesday that the speaking list includes the names of others believed to be on McCain's list of possible VP picks.

Cantor, a Republican congressman from Virginia, underwent the formal vetting process by McCain's campaign, the newspaper reported.

Rob Collins, a spokesman for Cantor, attributed the congressman's absence on the speaking list to the "vacuity of convention speakers."
