CINCINNATI, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- A Cincinnati judge Monday sentenced a father to prison for throwing his infant son against a wall.

Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Ralph Winkler called the incident "a sad case" before pronouncing sentence on 21-year-old Travis Townsend of Silverton.

Townsend, who will also undergo mental health treatment while in custody, confessed to hurling the 9-month-old against the wall four years ago because he would not stop crying.

The baby suffered a fractured skull. The Cincinnati Enquirer said Hamilton County officials could not confirm the child's current health status.
