Israel to close Gaza crossings

TEL AVIV, Israel, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Israel's response to a Palestinian rocket attack Monday was to announce it will block border crossings with the Gaza Strip Tuesday.

The two Qassam rockets that sailed into Israel's Negev region produced no damage or casualties, Haaretz reported.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak and Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai said the border crossings would be shut down once again. Israel has taken similar action following past rocket attacks.

Despite the latest strikes, an Egyptian-brokered cease-fire enacted June 19 has cut down the number of rocket attacks on southern Israeli communities.
