Barack Obama announces Joe Biden as his running mate in Springfield, IL

WASHINGTON, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- John McCain's aides say they'll use political decisions made by Barack Obama's running mate to show why McCain should be the next U.S. president.

McCain's aides plan to use votes made by Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Delaware, against Obama to show Obama lacks judgment and experience, McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds told The Washington Post in a story published Monday.

The goal is to cast Obama as being on one side and McCain and Biden together on the other, with a key issue being the decision to invade Iraq, which Obama voted against and Biden and McCain voted for, Bounds said.

Biden spokesman David Wade called the McCain camp "desperate," saying Biden voted for the war resolution only after his efforts to limit the war failed.

"If Barack Obama and Joe Biden had set Iraq policy these last six years rather than George Bush and John McCain," Wade said, "we wouldn't be in the hole we're in today."
