BOSTON, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., is expected to attend the Democratic National Convention in Denver and may speak to the convention Monday, The Boston Globe said.
Kennedy was diagnosed this year with brain cancer. His doctors are said to be concerned that attending the Denver convention could put his health at further risk because his treatment may have weakened his immune system, but a Kennedy family source told the Globe the Democratic Party icon "is definitely planning" to be in Denver.
"The whole Kennedy family will be in a special section," the source said. "It should be quite moment."
Kennedy has told others he has prepared a speech for the convention.
Kennedy endorsed Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, who went on to win enough delegates to secure the Democratic presidential nomination.
