LONDON, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- A prominent British obstetrician whose patients have included actresses Cate Blanchett and Emma Thompson is involved in a lawsuit over a birth 16 years ago.
Dr. Yehudi Gordon is known for advocating natural childbirth. Elizabeth Hammond claims he advised her she could have natural childbirth even though her fetus was in breech position and other doctors had advised a Caesarean section.
James Hammond, now 16, was later diagnosed with severe brain damage and cerebral palsy, The Telegraph reports.
A High Court writ says Gordon admits responsibility for James Hammond's injuries. But his lawyers and those representing the mother have been unable to agree on how much compensation should be paid.
