SWAT VALLEY, Pakistan, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Four people died in a pair of bombings in Pakistan's restive northwestern Swat Valley region Saturday, officials said.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the violence, CNN reported. The first attack came from a suicide car bomber who hit a police station in the village of Charbagh. The bombing killed two police officers and wounded 11 people.

In the second attack, a remote controlled bomb went off at a vacant police checkpoint in the village of Abuha, killing two and injuring four. Three of the wounded were children, authorities said.

Taliban spokesman Muslim Khan warned of more attacks unless Pakistan stops a military offensive against Islamic extremists in the Swat Valley and other areas of the North West Frontier Province, CNN said.
