The killing in September 2006 was in revenge for the stabbing of Oscar Gonzalez, 14. Gonzalez was killed by members of an Asian gang during a dispute about gang graffiti.

Investigators said members of the Lil Mini gang met immediately after Gonzalez was killed and decided to take revenge. Gonzalez's brother, Sergio, 15, Antonio Barbosa, 18, and the 12-year-old went looking for someone and killed a man who was not involved in Oscar Gonzalez's death.

Barbosa and Sergio Gonzalez were tried and convicted. Both are serving 40 years to life.
