KABUL, Afghanistan, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Three Polish soldiers, members of the NATO force in Afghanistan, were killed when their vehicle was struck by a bomb, Polish officials said.

The Polish Defense Ministry said the soldiers died Wednesday while on combat patrol in Ghazni province, CNN reported. One other soldier was wounded and the ministry described his condition as serious.

Elsewhere, the BBC said there were unconfirmed reports that coalition troops killed 30 militants in a skirmish northeast of Kabul.

NATO said 1,140 Polish soldiers are part of NATO's International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan.
