Poll: Almost half in U.S. creationist
IOWA CITY, Iowa, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- A University of Iowa professor accused of accepting sexual favors from female students in exchange for better grades is missing.
Political science Professor Arthur Miller, 66, hasn't been heard from since Tuesday. Police found a cell phone, wallet and ammunition for a rifle in his car left in a park but no sign of the academician, The Des Moines Register reported Wednesday.
Miller's wife said he had left a message indicating he might harm himself. Miller owned a high-powered rifle.
Authorities wrapped up their search for the night after earlier emptying a university building, locking down a school and issuing an alert for the area around Hickory Hill Park, the newspaper said.
The search for Miller was to resume Thursday morning.
Miller was charged Aug.8 after accusations were leveled against him by four students.
Miller, who was put on paid leave in May, has been employed by the university since 1985.
