EDMONTON, Alberta, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Alberta arrested a man on an Edmonton-bound Greyhound bus for allegedly threatening to behead two passengers.
The news emerged Wednesday of the incident Monday night in which brothers Josh and Andrew MacDougall said the man sat beside them and was behaving and talking erratically, the Edmonton Sun reported.
They said the man went to the washroom and returned with a knife and began stabbing the seat. They told the RCMP they told the driver three times about the man and each time the driver cautioned the man but continued driving, the report said.
Finally the driver called police and stopped, the report said. Before the RCMP arrived, the man scuffled with the bus driver but was subdued with an officer's pepper spray.
Douglas Charland, 30, faces numerous charges including assault and uttering threats, police said.
On July 30, a Greyhound passenger in Manitoba was attacked and beheaded by a fellow passenger who is charged with second-degree murder and undergoing psychiatric evaluation.
Since Saturday, two city bus drivers in Edmonton and Toronto have been attacked by passengers.
