CHICAGO, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Shootings of two men in downtown Chicago may have resulted from a fight in a club where there was a party for NBA player Antoine Walker, police said.
The early Monday morning gunfire near the landmark Rock 'n' Roll McDonald's left one man dead and another in critical condition, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Tuesday. Curtis Ellis, 25, died at Stroger hospital, authorities said, while the second victim, an unidentified 30-year-old, was listed in critical condition.
Walker's birthday party was held at Excalibur, a nightclub about a block away, said sources. Police are investigating the possibility of whether there may have been a fight and whether the shooting stemmed from a gang dispute.
Walker, who was recently traded from the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Memphis Grizzlies, was the victim of a home invasion last year.
