Carter, Gore, Kerry, Daley to address Dems

DENVER, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, Sen. John Kerry and Chicago Mayor Richard Daley will speak at the Democratic National Convention, organizers said Tuesday.

The night that Sen. Barack Obama accepts the Democratic presidential nomination, former Vice President Al Gore also is expected to speak, the Rocky Mountain News reported.

The convention in Denver runs Aug. 25-27.

On Monday, Obama's family and some political allies from his hometown of Chicago will speak, including Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. Former president Carter also is to speak Monday night.

Sen. Hillary Clinton will speak Tuesday, as will former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner, who is giving the keynote address. AFL-CIO President John Sweeney also will talk Tuesday.

On Wednesday, the still-unnamed vice presidential nominee will be the prime time speaker. Former President Bill Clinton, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, Daley and Kerry also will speak that night.
