TBILISI, Georgia, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Journalists covering the war in Georgia were caught in cross fire as video captured images of reporters being fired upon while reporting.

Turkish journalists were fired upon in South Ossetia, with a reporter being shot in the head and a cameraman catching a bullet in the shoulder, The Times of London reported Friday.

In footage shot by a camera rolling in their car, reporter Levent Ozturk can be heard saying, "Friends, I got hit on the head. I am OK now, but in a few minutes..."

Cameraman Guray Ervin said he couldn't maneuver out of the line of fire after soldiers opened fire because the engine failed.

"We shouted at the soldiers that we were journalists. We also took our t-shirts off and waved them out of

windows," he said.

In an incident near Gori, Georgian state television correspondent Tamara Urushadzi caught sniper fire during a live report, the Times reported. Video showed a wound near her left wrist.

After donning a protective vest, Urushadzi resumed her report from inside the news van.

Russian troops entered Georgia after the Georgian army last week launched an assault on the separatist region of South Ossetia. The two countries since agreed to a cease-fire, but Russian troops have maintained a military presence in Georgia.
