Roy Sundstrom pleaded guilty to production of marijuana and possession for the purposes of trafficking after a December 2006 police raid on his home that found elaborate security systems and underground vaults, the Vancouver Sun reported Friday.
Judge Carol Baird-Ellan wrote in her ruling the property must be signed over to the provincial government.
Sundstrom, 59, purchased the home in 1987 for just under $60,000, and it is fully paid off. His lawyer said forfeiture was unfair punishment as most of the other marijuana growers convicted in the province usually had mortgages and little equity.
The judge disagreed, saying she had sentenced Sundstrom to 15 months of house arrest in light of the forfeiture instead of the usual nine months in jail.
Sundstrom's lawyer said he is planning an appeal, the Sun said.
