Woman beat, threatened by Chastity Guards

JERUSALEM, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- A divorced Israeli woman has been beaten and threatened by self-proclaimed "chastity guards" after she left an ultra-Orthodox group, Ynetnews said.

Elhanan Buzaglo, 29, has been arrested and charged after he and six others allegedly broke into the 31-year-old woman's Jerusalem apartment several months ago. They allegedly threw her to the floor, kicking her and threatening her if she did not disclose the names of men whom she had been with, Ynetnews reported Thursday.

Indictments say the men stole her cell phones and threatened her life is she did not move. The group has reportedly declared a crusade against violations of Halachic law and what it views as 'unchaste' behavior.

Buzaglo, who reportedly received $2,000 for taking part in the assault, is charged with conspiracy to commit a crime, aggravated assault and two counts of extortion.
