DENVER, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Officials say they doubt that cyanide in a Denver hotel room where a man was found dead might be connected to a terror plot ahead of the Democratic Convention.
Saleman Abdirahman Dirie, 29, was found dead in his downtown hotel and next to him was a bottle of what officials say was cyanide, The Rocky Mountain News reported Thursday. Police said Wednesday there was no sign of foul play.
"It's an isolated incident," said Denver police Detective John White.
FBI Special Agent Kathy Wright said the agency does not believe Dirie, a Canadian, had terrorist ties.
Cyanide is sometimes used by people who want to kill themselves. Wright said it is "a little too early to really say" if that was the case for Dirie.
Speculation that Dirie's death was terror-related was fueled by a blog posting by a man with a very similar name to Dirie's.
"Having the bible in one hand, and a bread in the other hand, is not a correct thing! Kill Them, Kill them, Kill them, that is my massage!" read the comment by Abdirahman Dirie, on July 11.
Another comment was posted Wdnesday under the same name, suggesting the blogger is not the same person as the man found dead in the hotel.
