Rodent prankster gets probation

CHICAGO, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- A teenager convicted of placing four dead rodents in a suburban Chicago high school will be on probation for two years, a judge has ruled.

DuPage County Judge Robert G. Kleeman ruled that Myles Frost, of Lombard, Ill., should spend two years on probation and undergo a psychological evaluation for the suspected prank at Glenbard East High School in 2007, the Chicago Sun-Times said Wednesday.

"Even if it's a prank, to say it's in bad taste would be an extraordinary understatement,'' Kleeman said during Tuesday's sentencing.

Frost, 19, was convicted of placing a decapitated rat and three mutilated mice throughout the high school, including in a drinking fountain and a vending machine.

Defense attorney Frank Fanella told the Sun-Times his client maintains his innocence in the case, adding the teenager will pursue an education in his chosen field.

"He has dreams of working with animals -- that's really what his dream is," Fanella said.
