Plane crash victims identified

ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo., Aug. 11 (UPI) -- The three men who died after their planes collided in flight near Rock Springs, Wyo., have been identified, officials said Monday.

The dead were identified as Dave Knezovich of Rock Springs, Wyo., the pilot of a single-engine Cessna 172, and Ralph Otto of Wilmette, Ill, and C. Michael Downey of Columbus, Ohio, who were flying in a single engine Cirrus SR22.

The collision occurred about five miles northwest of the Rock Springs/Sweetwater County Airport and about 6 miles northeast of Rock Springs, the Casper (Wyo.) Star-Tribune reported.

Debris from the crash was scattered over a half-mile area, the newspaper said.

Sweetwater County Sheriff Rich Haskell said Knezovich was on a routine student solo flight, and Otto and Downey were flying to Rock Springs from Polson, Mont., when the crash occurred.
