NASHVILLE, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Nashville police say they're investigating an incident in which a man discovered an infant left in his yard.

Authorities say the man found the newborn baby girl as he was doing yard work Friday evening, the (Nashville) Tennessean reported. The man, Joel Stitt, wouldn't comment when contacted by the newspaper.

Police said the baby was sunburned but otherwise unhurt. She was taken to Monroe Carell Junior Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt University for observation and then given to state child welfare officials, the Tennessean said.
