BALDWIN, Wis., Aug. 9 (UPI) -- A veteran skydiver has been killed in a Wisconsin jump, possibly while making a mistake practicing a stunt move, witnesses said.

Todd Jacobson, 39, had more than 5,200 jumps under his belt and his chute opened normally before the accident Friday. It wasn't until he was close to ground that anything went wrong, reported the St. Paul Pioneer Press Saturday.

"As he approached the ground, all of a sudden the chute took a quick turn, putting him at an angle with the ground," said St. Croix County Sheriff' Dennis Hillstead. "He hit the ground face first. ... Witnesses on the ground indicated that it may have been an error on his part that caused the chute to suddenly turn and flip him out."

Jacobson was an instructor the Indianhead Sport Parachute Club where he had reportedly completed more than 5,200 jumps since 1991.
