Cleve Calvo says his family is recovering from the incident last week, "But, the trauma runs deep."
Meanwhile, the FBI is investigating the raid a week ago Tuesday by Prince George County authorities shortly after a 32-pound package of marijuana was delivered, the Gaithersburg (Md.) Gazette reported.
Officers reportedly broke down the front door, shot and killed the mayor's two dogs and handcuffed and questioned the mayor and his mother-in-law. The Berwyn Heights police say they were never informed.
Calvo said the warrant, which did not bear his name, did not authorize no-knock entry and figures it might have been politically motivated. He said he did not see the warrant until three days after the raid. No one has been charged.
The package of marijuana, allegedly addressed to the mayor's wife, listed a Los Angeles return address.
A memorial dinner was held for Calvo's two pets, Payton and Chase.
