MIRAMAR, Fla., Aug. 7 (UPI) -- A Florida man was charged with first-degree murder in the death of a federal agent after a 30-hour manhunt, police said.
Acting on a tip, police arrested James Wonder, 65, of Miramar, Fla., at a dialysis center where he gone for treatment, The Miami Herald reported Thursday.
Wonder was charged in Tuesday's death of U.S. Customs agent Donald Pettit. Police said Wonder killed Pettit following a dispute but didn't elaborate. Federal sources close to the investigation told the Herald road rage led to the shooting.
Wonder was arrested after more than 200 law enforcement personnel spent the day searching the West Broward, Fla., area.
During a news conference Wednesday, investigators credited Pettit's 12-year-old daughter, who was with the Customs agent when he was killed, for providing details and a description of the suspect.
