GEARHART, Ore., Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Five people died Monday when a small plane crashed into a house in Gearhart, Ore., a beach town on the Pacific coast, authorities said.

Both of the plane's occupants and three people in the house were killed when the plane and the house caught fire after the crash, The (Portland, Ore.) Oregonian reported.

There were six people in the house, the newspaper said -- Ruth Reimann and five children. Ruth Reimann was taken to the burn center at Legacy Emanuel Hospital & Health Center in Portland, along with her son, Chris, and her daughter, Sarah, hospital officials told the newspaper.

Julia Reimann, 10, Hesam Farrar Masoudi, 12, and Grace Masoudi, 8, died. The pilot of the plane, Jason Ketchson, and the passenger, Frank Toohey -- both of Clatsop County, Ore. -- were killed.

Gearhart City Administrator Dennis McNally told reporters Monday afternoon the crash occurred just after 6:30 a.m. when the plane first hit a tree and then caromed into the house.

The owner of the house said Ruth Reimann and the five children who were there with her had rented the house for a planned two-week stay.
