SWANSEA, Wales, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- A Welsh man shot by robbers during his honeymoon in Antigua has died and sources say police have named a chief suspect in the case.
Ben Mullany, 31, died Sunday after being flown to Wales from the Caribbean island, where his bride, Catherine Mullany, was shot to death by intruders in their hotel room, The Times of London reported.
Ben Mullany was a physiotherapist and his wife, also 31, was a doctor from the Swansea Valley. They were attacked on the last day of their two-week honeymoon while staying at a resort hotel. Ben Mullany had been left with a fractured skull and a bullet lodged in his brain from the attack, the newspaper said.
Scotland Yard investigators went to Antigua to help its police force and unnamed sources told Britain's Sky News that authorities have focused on a chief suspect and have four people in custody.
The Times reported one of those arrested included a man who drove the Mullanys on a tour of Antigua earlier in their stay. The island's police chief says the slayings were similar to an earlier killing of a Syrian immigrant by a gang.
