Judge affirms public's right to know

ORLANDO, Fla., July 30 (UPI) -- A Florida judge has refused to keep secret the records of phone calls and jail house visits to the mother of missing 2-year-old Caylee Marie Anthony.

Circuit Court Judge Stan Strickland denied a motion by Casey Anthony's lawyer to block the news media from obtaining video visitation and audio records of his client's conversations, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Wednesday.

"When push comes to shove. . .I'm going to err on the side of the First Amendment every time," Strickland said Tuesday.

The ruling came after jail officials released a 14-minute call Anthony, 22, made to her family hours after her arrest in connection with her daughter's disappearance.

They also released a conversation Anthony had at the jail with her brother, Lee.

Anthony was arrested July 16 after detectives said she had told lies about her daughter's disappearance.

Anthony told police she was unable to find her daughter after leaving her in the care of a baby sitter in June.
