SAINT JOHN'S, Antigua and Barbuda, July 29 (UPI) -- Between three and six suspects are being questioned in the slaying of a British doctor on her honeymoon in Antigua, police sources say.

Catherine Mullany, 31, died instantly when she was shot in the head by an intruder in her hotel room. Her husband, physiotherapist Benjamin Mullany, also 31, was clinging to life after sustaining a fractured skull and spinal cord damage in the attack, The Telegraph reported Tuesday.

The incident happened early Sunday at the Cocos Hotel. Unnamed sources told the newspaper that three to six people have been held for questioning, and police believe there may have been more than one intruder in the Mullanys' hotel room.

The newspaper said residents describe the area around the hotel as relatively safe, but they said a neighboring village has been the scene of what locals believe is a serial rapist, with at least seven women attacked in a two-year period.
