Prodigy, 21, about to become doctor

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, July 26 (UPI) -- The most recent battles in the northern regions of Sri Lanka left dozens of rebel fighters and several government soldiers dead, the government said.
Sri Lankan security officials said 28 Tamil Tiger rebel fighters were killed Friday and 33 rebels died Thursday, Lanka Page reported Saturday. Thirty rebels were reported wounded.
Eight government troops were reported to have died and 10 more wounded, the newspaper said.
The rebel organization did not respond to the government's declared casualty toll and independent verification of its figures is not possible because journalists are not allowed in the battlefields.
