Iranians tight-lipped about convoy blast

TEHRAN, July 25 (UPI) -- The Iranian military is keeping quiet about its investigation into an explosion that rocked a military convoy, killing at least 15 people, officials said.

The explosion occurred in Khavarshahar, a Tehran suburb, as the convoy left a munitions' warehouse controlled by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, The Daily Telegraph reported Friday.

Western officials allege the convoy was transporting military equipment to Hezbollah, a terrorist organization Iran supports in southern Lebanon, when the explosion occurred. Sources told the British newspaper Thursday they received reports that the explosion occurred July 19 and the IRGC began an investigation.

Investigators reportedly are considering sabotage a possibility, the newspaper said.

"This was a massive explosion that was heard throughout Tehran," one official told The Daily Telegraph. "Even though lots of people were killed the Revolutionary Guards are trying to conceal what really happened."
