John Ogden was 16-years-old in 2005, when a gunman who had stowed away in the trunk of stepfather Ron Whitehead's car killed Whitehead, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported Thursday.
The newspaper said Ogden is accused of coordinating the killing with his mother, Velma Ogden-Whitehead, who pleaded guilty to first-degree murder last month.
She admitted to paying Wilson Sayachack $1,000 to kill her husband. Ogden and Sayachack, who also was 16 years-old at the time, each face first-degree murder charges in separate prosecutions.
Sayachack's first trial for the killing ended in a hung jury, and a second trial was declared a mistrial when police recovered a gun thought to be the murder weapon after the jury had begun to hear the case.
Ogden and Sayachack both face at least 20 years if convicted as charged, the newspaper reported.
