Light earthquakes hit Russian coast

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, Russia, July 24 (UPI) -- An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale was reported by Russian observers Thursday in the Pacific Ocean off the southern coast of Kamchatka.

There were no reports of damage or casualties, Itar-Tass reported.

Two minor quakes also were felt in the Kuril Islands, officials at the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences said.
