N.Y. teacher jailed again for student sex

MASSAPEQUA, N.Y., July 23 (UPI) -- A judge ordered a former New York teacher to be jailed for allegedly having sex with the same student who had led to her arrest last spring.

Heather Kennedy, 25, of Massapequa, N.Y., was being held on $104,000 bond Wednesday while awaiting proceedings on her latest charges, which include five counts of third-degree rape and violation of a court order not to have contact with the 16-year-old boy.

Newsday said Kennedy was arrested after the Nassau County District Attorney's office received a tip that Kennedy was still seeing her teenage paramour even though she was on probation for sexual misconduct.

"Almost immediately after she walked out of court, she was having contact with the victim by phone and in person," Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice said at Kennedy's initial hearing Tuesday.

Newsday said the couple had engaged in sexual activity five times since Kennedy had been placed on probation and agreed to stop seeing the boy.
