Marine reservist charged in leak probe

HAYWARD, Calif., July 23 (UPI) -- A California U.S. Marine Corps reservist has been charged with sharing classified files without authorization, officials said Wednesday.

The reservist, identified as Master Sgt. Reinaldo Pagan, is also an officer on military leave from the Hayward, Calif., police department, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

Marine Corps spokesman Maj. Jason Johnston wouldn't elaborate on the charges against Pagan, which include dereliction of duty, orders violations, conspiracy and wrongful transmission of classified information, the newspaper said.

The Chronicle quoted San Diego media reports saying Pagan, 42, and another Marine were implicated an incident in which they allegedly shared information obtained at Camp Pendleton with the anti-terrorism units of law enforcement agencies in Los Angeles County.
